Day 7-Sunday Church & Brunch, Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN

Today we started the day off by attending church at Christ Community Church in Franklin, TN. It was a great service and is home to Nashville musician, Stephen Curtis Chapman. The worship was very lively and gave us a time to reflect on our trip and what God has been doing in our lives through this trip. The message reflected on Paul's testimony that God brought him through the troubles in his life and did not take them away from him. It was very powerful and helped us to realize how God is always there for us no matter what we are going through in our lives. He teaches us through the hard times and walks us through them.

After the service we headed to Mere Bulles for Sunday Brunch. It was probably the best breakfast I have ever had. We were treated to just about everything imaginable. We had a full salad bar, Maryland she-crab bisque soup, full omelet station, eggs benedict, creme brule french toast, bacon, biscuits, roasted pork loin, grilled salmon, vegetables, fresh fruit, desserts and a chocolate fountain.

While at brunch I took the opportunity to talk to the students about the importance of finding a school that has your intended major and other things that you are looking for, but they need to pick a school where they feel it is going to be the best environment for them to continue to grow with Christ. There are many opportunities at all the schools but the hard part is going out and finding those opportunities. College should be the greatest time in their lives and also the greatest time for spiritual growth. They just need to realize those opportunities and put that at the top of their list when choosing the type of college.

Afterwards we headed back to the hotel for a nap!!! But many people found too many things to do at the hotel instead of a nap. There was an impressive weight room, swimming pool, hot tub, pool table and computer lab.

Vanderbilt University...Mr. Vanderbilt

Later that afternoon we headed to Vanderbilt. Even though they were not able to give us a tour we had a special Vandy guest give us a tour. Amy Martin Jominy (WA Valedictorian 1994) and her husband Tyson Jominy (WA 94) and their children, Luke and Catherine joined us. Amy graduated from Vandy and was more than happy to give us a tour of campus and information about the school. Tyson is cousin with my wife, Ashley Jominy Baur (WA 99).

Pictured are Amy, Tyson, Catherine and Luke Jominy along with Josh Longerberm, David Luzinski, Cassidy Curtis, myself and Sam Freas. Josh, David and Cassidy were all taught by Amy's mom in 1st grade and I believe some were taught by Tyson's mom for Kindergarten and will, when they are seniors, be taught by Tyson's dad. One big WA family!!!

After the tour we headed to SATCO, San Antonio Taco Company, for dinner.

After dinner we visited the largest replica of the Parthenon, also in Nashville.
